MLC Tech Update

After a number of years of planning, and a number of months of preparation, we can finally announce that the way we run our membership plans is changing. We are moving to a company called ClubRight.

Why are we doing this?

Clubright is cheaper than our previous provider, by several thousand believe it or not! We will also have the ability to change from standing orders to direct debits, which will give us much more control over our pricing structure. It is also much more user friendly. Having a robust membership database and ability to record how members use our site will be hugely beneficial to us, as we can both demonstrate to the council how well used the site is (which will help with service level agreements) and allow us to tailor the site to benefit the way members use it.

Our members will benefit too! Each member will be able to download an app and will be able to sign in electronically, using a QR code scanner on our reception (so no more signing in on a sheet of paper). Every member will also be able to see how many people are in the building at any one time, be able to see our usual busy periods and be able to plan to come in during quieter spells if that’s their thing. We can also email each and every member so, if plans to our timetable need to change, every member can be contacted directly and securely with updates. Every aspect of your membership will be able to be managed from your phone. In the future, we have the ability to expand the functionality of the app to offer online registration for classes and potentially direct debit plans for learn to swim.

What do members need to do?

Our membership data has already been ported across to the new system (still maintaining our privacy policy and terms and conditions). If you are a current member, you need to update us with your email address. You can do this by either contacting us or adding your email address to the current paper based sign in sheet when you are next in. This is so we can update the system and you can download and login to the app. Search for ClubRight in your Appstore. Once downloaded and your account is set up (using the email address you supplied to us), you will see a QR code on the app homepage. Click on that to enlarge it and then scan it using the scanner on reception. It will beep twice and that is you signed into the building. Scan again on the way out so we can keep an accurate tally of numbers in the centre.

We will also be beginning the process of switching from standing order to direct debit in the future. This will have a second notification when we are set up electronically to be able to do it.

The app is very basic right now, but functionality will be added with time. For now you will be able to see how many people are signed into the building (N.B. this is for both the pool and gym), the centre timetable and your membership details.

Volunteers Needed!

If you have some spare time and would like to give back to your community, then why not volunteer? We have a number of different fundraising events this year all around Islay. If you would like to help us out by running a stall, help running an event etc. then please get in touch!

Alternatively, if you’d prefer to help us out within the leisure centre, our Aquacare sessions need volunteers to keep them running.
